Wildfire Evacuation Planning Guide

How to create an evacuation plan for wildfire season.

Before Fire Season

Identify at least two evacuation routes from your home and practice driving them. Designate a meeting point for family members. Create a communication plan with out-of-area contacts. Prepare a go-bag with essentials: medications, important documents, phone chargers, water, snacks, first aid kit, N95 masks, and pet supplies.

When a Warning Is Issued

Load your car immediately. Move pets and livestock. Dress in long pants, long sleeves, and sturdy shoes. Close all windows and doors but leave them unlocked for firefighters. Move furniture away from windows. Remove flammable items from your yard. Shut off propane tanks and gas valves.

Evacuation Levels

Level 1 (Ready): Be aware and prepare to leave. Level 2 (Set): Be prepared to leave at a moment's notice. Level 3 (Go!): Leave immediately. Danger is current or imminent.
