About Firewise USA
Firewise USA is a voluntary recognition program by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) that encourages local solutions to wildfire safety. Over 2,000 communities nationwide are recognized as Firewise sites.
Requirements
To become a Firewise community: obtain a wildfire risk assessment from your state forestry agency; form a board or committee of community members; develop a wildfire action plan; invest a minimum of $25.16 per dwelling unit annually in wildfire risk reduction; and submit documentation annually.
